SITUATION
Netting beneath a rail bridge had been vandalised, allowing pigeons to roost and nest on the ledges and bearing shelves.
SOLUTION
After removing the damaged material and cleaning the structure of fouling and debris using specialist cleaning methods, Reactive Group Services installed bird exclusion screens to enclose the exposed beams, while enabling engineers access between the girders to examine all parts of the bridge.
The screens by GirderGuard used integral clamps and beam clips to attach to beam flanges. Steel cables were threaded through each panel and attached back to the structure as a secondary securing and safety system.
