ABOUT INFRASTRUCTURE
Pest birds commonly roost and nest under infrastructures such as railway and highway bridges, causing numerous problems for the area below.
Common problems include:
- Pigeons and other birds cause large amounts of droppings which collect on the pavement below, making footpaths slippery and foul-smelling
- Pedestrians are at risk from droppings landing on them
Common solutions include:
- Bird exclusion netting is installed beneath the canopies to seal off the structure, forcing birds to nest elsewhere
- Bird deterrent spikes are installed to deter pest birds from perching on the infrastructure
- Energised deterrent track is used on ledges and signage to harmlessly shock birds away and prevent their return
- Vibration-proof stainless-steel mesh panels are installed over gaps in the infrastructure
- Specialist cleaning services are provided to remove existing waste and fouling
