Situation
The famous Rose Window at the York Minster had suffered from pigeons roosting on the decorative stone tracery. The bird’s fouling began to spoil the appearance of the medieval glasswork and contaminate the areas below.
Solution
After much consultation, it was decided Reactive Group Services would install a 50mm² mesh bird netting over the front of the entire window and stonework.
Although there was initial concern as to how the net would affect the appearance of the window and what damage the installation could cause to the surrounding stonework, the project was a huge success and those involved were delighted with the results, especially how the net is almost virtually impossible to see from ground level.
